Hallelujah!

It took him seventy six years to sing in person to me. Words cannot describe how emotional I felt to be in his presence - such a gifted man. He is one of the most unique artists of the last 4 decades, and he still has something to say to us.

You may wonder who I am talking about. Well, let me tell you….

I had the absolute privilege of finally experiencing Mr Leonard Cohen in concert for the first time last night. I never thought I'd be lucky enough to actually see him live. He is one of the all time greats – a living legend. I have loved him for a long, long time and I will never forget how lucky I was to hear and see him perform. He would be at the top of the list of people I would most love to meet.

Mr Cohen’s music has just got better and better over the years. From the very first song, his so wonderful “Dance Me to the End of Love”, his performance brought tears to my eyes. And when he spoke the words to “A Thousand Kisses Deep”, he touched my very soul.

I have listened to him so many times over the years, but it is such a different experience to hear him live. His voice is like velvet, mellow and seductive; he digs deep into your soul. He has such a compelling voice, yet he is a gentle man with a humble manner that would melt the most hardened heart. I just really can’t describe what an experience it is to listen to him – you have to be there to understand the power of this man.

I have never seen such a reception as he received in Wellington last night. There was so much adoration from everyone in the audience, both young and old. What a testimony to a great man's life's work. The whole performance was absolute perfection.

Darker than metal, deeper than soul, more uplifting than gospel, he is the master of all the emotions. The greatest singer/songwriter this world has ever known.

He was always good. Now he is perfect. Everybody knows....
